Although Phuket is not associated with backpacking destinations, it is true that it still has not very crowded corners reminiscent of the time when the island was not the tourist destination it is today. Being such a large island, Phuket has a great variety of beaches, many of them quite crowded with Patong Beach and others not so visited. This means you can still get lost in the island and enjoy the incredible waters of the Andaman Sea. If your idea is to visit the island of Phuket and you want to escape from that tourist side I leave you this small list with the best beaches in Phuket, the most authentic and least crowded. The main beaches of the island are the following:

Kata Beach

When I say Kata Beach, I mean the beaches of Kata Yai and Kata Noi. They are considered one of the most beautiful on the island and are visited a lot because they are close to Phuket Town and Patong.

Freedom Beach

Located in the Patong area, Freedom Beach is one of those corners of Phuket that you won’t imagine exist. Accessible only by boat or on foot, it is an ideal place to disconnect from the island.

Banana Beach

Another of those beaches that you cannot imagine exists on the island. Located in the Lagoon area, Banana Beach is perhaps the most advisable corner for backpackers visiting the island.

Paradise Beach

Located near Patong, Paradise Beach will impress you with its beauty. Accessible only by boat or on foot, it is another one of those corners of Phuket ideal to disconnect and spend an excellent day of sun and beach.

Bang Tao Beach

Bang Tao Beach is one of the most famous beaches on the island and most visited by tourists. Even so, the beach is worth your visit. It’s about 8 km long and ideal to walk in the afternoon and enjoy the sunset.

Kamala Beach

Kamala is another of the most famous beaches on the island. Being close to the Patong area, the beach is very popular during the day. It is an ideal place to enjoy the sunsets over the Andaman Sea.

Nai Harn Beach

Yet another spectacular small beach not visited by many tourists. Located in the southernmost part of the island, Nai Harn Beach is perfect for enjoying good seafood in any of its restaurants on the beach. The best thing is that during the weekend it is visited by local people, who will allow you to enjoy a beach time in the purest Thai style.

The best thing about Phuket is that it still has many more beaches to offer. The worst thing is that many of them will be busier and more developed.
